TechJoose is now under new ownership
by Staff on Apr.14, 2009, under IRC
I’m proud to announce that venom is now the new owner of TechJoose. Some new staffers will be brought in along with the ones that have chosen to stick with us through thick and thin. I hope that the network will continue on with what I brought to it.
Unfortunately, this will probably be my last post. I’ve many experiences both good and bad from running this network. I will miss the good times. It was nice being in control and knowing that some people liked the way I directed things. I always tried to be fair with everyone, but sometimes my patience was tested. I will still be around, but probably not as often as I used to be. It is important to know that I will no longer be supporting the network. I don’t want anyone to come to me with their problems. I will help out with the transition, but only for so long. I hope everyone respects the decision I have made.
Congratulations to venom and the new and current staff. Treat the network well.
See you around.
Looking for a new owner

Recently, I’ve come to a point in my life where I felt a change is needed. Unfortunately, that change involves giving up ownership and control of TechJoose along with the script. The reason behind this is I no longer have the passion to run an IRC network, work on the web site, or maintain Joosed mIRC. I’ve also attempted to work on a MySpace layout site, but I quickly lost the motivation to continue with it. Many times I would try to code a line or work on the layout, but I just couldn’t find the motivation. It soon hit me that I just simply don’t have the passion to do such things anymore. The IRC network as a whole has degraded over time, and I feel that the passion to continue went away when people have moved on or decided to start up their own. While I know in the past I’ve talked about giving up IRC in frustration, this time I’m giving it up to make some changes in my life. Will I still visit the network after I no longer have ownership and control? That shall remain to be seen. Who knows what will happen down the line. All I know is that I’m 25 years old and have yet to really accomplish anything. It’s now my turn to go after the things in life that I yearn for, that I hunger for, that I feel will make me a whole human being instead of the partially desolate soul that I currently am.
I wish that everyone respect my decision and to not take it personally.
For anyone who is interested in taking ownership:
$12/year for the domain
$12/3 months for the web site
$48/ 3 months for the IRC servers
If you need any other details, you can find me on IRC. If no one wishes to take control in 2 weeks, I will have no choice but to shut down TechJoose.
IRC Services Update
by Staff on Feb.23, 2009, under IRC
A week ago, we updated services to Anope’s latest stable release, 1.8.0. With this update, the databases were completely reset to support a newer more reliable password encryption method. We apologize for the inconvenience this brings, but we assure you that your passwords are even safer than before.
Along with this update comes new features through Anope’s third-party module support. Some features include an enhanced nick ghosting, migration of channel settings, secure nick drops, and more. We will document these additions and more in the near future.
In the meantime, Joosed mIRC users are urged to update to 1.4.33 to increase support for Auto-ghosting and other minor bug fixes.
